Fares may vary depending on age, income level, or special eligiblity. Most riders will fall into one of two fare categories: Concessionary (13—18 years) or Adult (19 years and older).
Fares may differ for Special City Residents (SCR), who are eligible for Tappy Plus as part of their residency.
Children aged 12 and under ride free.
Holders of the Access for All Pass ("Tappy Access") also travel at no cost. Learn more.
We understand this system may be confusing to tourists or first-time riders. Please refer to our Rider Guide to learn how fares, transfers and route planning work.

A Journey is a completed trip for which your fare is charged (via Tappy Card, contactless payment, or one-time fare). There are two types of journeys.
— a one-tap trip, for example, boarding a bus.
— a multi-tap trip, for example, tapping into a station, then tapping out of a station.
A Transfer lets you begin a new journey at half fare if done within a specified time window, which is 90 minutes on the transport network, and 120 minutes on Commuter Rail.
For example, after finishing a Rapid Transit ride, you have a transfer window in which any subsequent trip, bus or Commuter Rail, would be half price.
No. AddFare Discounts only apply to trips that begin on rail-based services. Learn more below.
Including Antherstone Regional Transit, Long Distance Routes and InterCity, standard fares apply and are not calculated by distance.

Our Rapid Transit and Commuter Rail systems require more infrastructure, maintenance, and operational cost than buses. The combined base + per-station fare helps balance affordability with system viability.
If you ride rail exclusively, consider our Tappy Card for Rail only. Frequent riders may benefit most from the Yearly Pass.
The AddFare Discount applies to journeys that begin on rail-based services that exceed the $5.00 threshold. If your trip costs $5.00 or more, your fare will be halved once you tap out.
The AddFare Discount is granted only once in each transfer window. If you reach your threshold a second time or more, the Discount will not be granted until your current transfer window expires.
No, at this time, AddFare is meant to make rail-based services more affordable.
SeaLink and AirLink fares are often by booking only. For SeaLink Antherstone, services are free, courtesy of the Special City Tourism Agreement.
AirLink, Antherstone's Airline, is operationally independent but accepts Tappy as a form of payment.
SeaLink — Free
AirLink — Yes, Online/In-Person
